mount analogue installation

As resident artist of Mount Analogue in Seattle, Jess Joy created a setting in which she performed original music & corporeal mime pieces April 5th & 12th of 2018. Highly inspired by Joy's hometown & sentimental attachment to the oaks, palmettos, & moss in the swampy, romantic trappings of Louisiana, the installation was built using natural flour & water as glue, & 100% upcycled papers & cardboard. In the same way Joy emotionally processes developmental years through writing & performance, she chose to physically "process" her experiences through the visual installation. She used her original teenage journals, & letters as papier-mache material in the installation’s largest and most sculptural tree.

The scene was disassembled & discarded responsibly, honoring impermanence and transformation.
